# Colle vs Claude projects

Claude projects let your organisation see a project’s knowledge and instructions on Team and Enterprise plans, and Share creates a copy of a chat without its files. Colle is for the moment a task changes owner: a named recipient, the files, a deadline and a status, even if the recipient uses ChatGPT. Many teams use both.

## When to choose Claude projects

Claude projects keep a project's knowledge and instructions in one place. On Team and Enterprise plans you choose a project's visibility when you create it, and a project shared with everyone at your organisation appears in the Team section, where colleagues can find it.

Claude's Share button meets a different need. It creates a snapshot of a chat up to the moment you share it: later messages stay private, attached files and tool call data are not included, and on Team and Enterprise plans only people in your organisation can open the link.

Choose Claude projects when everyone works in Claude and the job is shared, ongoing context: the brand guide, the instructions for client reports, the background on a long-running account. Choose Share when you simply want a colleague to read a conversation. There is a step-by-step guide on [how to share a Claude chat with a colleague](/blog/how-to-share-a-claude-chat-with-a-colleague/).

## When to choose Colle

Colle is for the moment a task changes owner. You tell Claude “send James my call notes, he takes over the Nordlit account”, and James gets a handoff with a summary, the key facts and the original files. A Chrome pop-up reaches him in about 0.2 seconds, with Web Push on desktop and phone. He accepts with one click and continues in his own assistant, which can be Claude or ChatGPT.

The handoff then has an owner and a status: accepted, returned with a reason, done, or overdue. Deadlines and amounts are recorded as facts with their history, and a handoff sent to a person is seen only by the sender and the recipients. Administrators can export a tamper-evident audit log, and data is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt). See [how it works](/how-it-works/) and the [security page](/security/).

Colle is not the best fit for every case. If your team never passes work from one person to another, and everyone is happy reading the same project, a Claude project already covers it. Colle costs €15 per active person per month, or €12.50 billed yearly, excluding VAT; each person keeps their own Claude subscription. Details on [pricing](/pricing/).

## Using both

Keep the long-lived context in a Claude project, and hand off with Colle when a piece of work leaves your hands. The account background stays in the project for everyone; the call notes, the next call date and the contract draft go to James as a handoff, so he is notified, he owns the work, and you can see when it is done.

Because Colle works in both assistants, it also covers the colleague who uses ChatGPT. If you are weighing the two assistants' sharing features against each other, read [ChatGPT shared projects vs Claude projects](/blog/chatgpt-shared-projects-vs-claude-projects/). Setup is on the [Claude integration page](/integrations/claude/).
